EMERGENCY ULTRASOUND FELLOWSHIP

What to Expect

Emergency Care Specialists sponsors a one-year emergency ultrasound fellowship. Corewell Health and Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital are the primary sites for fellow training.

Clinical Shifts

The fellow’s clinical shifts will be scheduled at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital level one adult and pediatric trauma centers, with a combined annual volume of 150,000 patients.

Our PGY-1 emergency medicine residents have a dedicated ultrasound curriculum covering core ultrasound applications through monthly didactic sessions. In PGY-2, residents perform two two-week dedicated ultrasound rotations.

About Corewell Health

Corewell Health has been recognized as one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems by Truven Health Analytics®, part of IBM Watson Health™. Corewell Health is a leader in services, including heart, lung and bone marrow transplant programs. Our health care community is anchored by its relationships with Van Andel Research Institute, Corewell Health Cancer Center at Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion and Michigan State University  College of Human Medicine, which are built adjacent Michigan Street, known locally as the “Medical Mile.”

About Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids is an amazing community! It has been recognized as the No. 1 city in the U.S. to raise a family (Forbes Magazine, 2012) and the No. 1 city to visit (Lonely Planet, 2014). For craft beer aficionados, it was also recognized as Beer City USA (2012, 2013—2014 vote pending).

Grand Rapids also gained national recognition for ArtPrize, the city’s art competition. It is Michigan’s second largest city, with more than 65,000 college graduate students (Nursing, PA, OT, PT, NP, Law, MBA, MFA, etc.). The area has an abundance of recreational opportunities for a mid-sized city, is located 45 minutes from Lake Michigan, and is just a three-hour drive to Chicago and Detroit.
